Over the last few days I have been hearing about the protest happening against my son’s favorite lunch spot, Chick-fil-a. For those out of the loop, Chick-fil-a’s President Dan Cathy made it known that he is not in support of Gay Marriage. When these beliefs made news, the LGBT community and their supporters came out against his statement and made plans to boycott as well as protest against the restaurants in which Dan Cathy is the President of.

Even though Chick-fil-a has no record of discriminating against people that is of the LGBT community and Dan Cathy has came out and said to discriminate against them will be wrong and not a practice he would want to see in his restaurants, it didn’t matter.

Chick-fil-a has been a company not ashamed of their Christian foundation. They are the only National chain of restaurants I know of that is closed every Sunday. They do not stay open late, like other fast food chains. I have been told by employees, that Chick-fil-a believes in family over profit. It shows…but a $6 Chicken Sandwich yields a nice profit! I’m just saying…

Whether you agree or disagree with Mr. Cathy statement, even though I will be eating at Chick-fil-a much more now, I respect the fact he wasn’t scared to say it. Who else will the LGBT community protest against? Will protesters be outside churches because of our beliefs?

Whether it is the LGBT community or supporters of any other cause that is directly against your beliefs, could they protest you? Are you strong enough to say what you believe no matter who is listening? The generation of preachers that I grew up listening to, i.e. Bishop G.E. Patterson, Dr. R.W. Shambach, Dr. T.L. Lowery, Pastor Jimmy Swaggart, is either growing older or gone on to be with the Lord. They never comprised their beliefs and didn’t care who knew where they stood on any issue. What about this generation? Where do we stand? …And who knows?
